Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 13, 2026
Axen is built by Invntio (Company legal name/entity type, country of incorporation — confirm). This policy explains what data exists, where it lives, and who can see it.
The short version: we don't run a server that holds your workout data. There is no Axen account database. Your training data stays on your iPhone and, if you turn on sync, in your own iCloud. The only personal data we hold directly is what you type into the website.
1. Data in the App
What's stored on your device
Everything you create in Axen is stored locally using SwiftData:
- Routines, exercises, sets, reps, and rest configuration
- Workout history and completed sessions
- RPE entries and personal records
- Your in-app preferences (units, sounds, notification settings)
This data sits in the app's storage on your iPhone. We have no access to it.
iCloud sync
If iCloud is enabled on your device, Axen can sync that data across your own Apple devices through Apple CloudKit, in your personal iCloud account. This is your storage, under your Apple ID, subject to Apple's privacy policy. Invntio has no visibility into the contents of your private CloudKit database — we can't read it, export it, or recover it for you.
You can turn sync off in iOS Settings at any time. Doing so leaves the data local to the device.
AI Coach
Coach generates workout routines using Apple's on-device Foundation Models (Apple Intelligence). Your prompts and the routines produced from them are processed entirely on your iPhone. Nothing is sent to Invntio's servers, to a cloud AI provider, or to any third party. There is no transcript of your Coach conversations anywhere but your own device.
Live Activities
Live Activities and Dynamic Island progress use Apple's ActivityKit on your device. Workout state is shared between the app and its extension via a local App Group container. Nothing leaves your device for this.
What the app does not collect
To be unambiguous, Axen does not:
- Read from or write to Apple Health / HealthKit. There is no HealthKit integration at all.
- Collect account credentials — there are no accounts, no email/password, no Sign in with Apple.
- Collect or store payment details.
- Include third-party advertising SDKs, ad identifiers, or cross-app tracking.
- Send your routines, history, or Coach prompts to us.
2. Data from Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles payment, billing, and refunds, and holds your payment details. We never see them.
We use RevenueCat to determine which tier you're entitled to. RevenueCat receives anonymized purchase and entitlement events — an app-generated anonymous identifier, product identifiers, purchase and renewal timestamps, and platform/country metadata from the receipt. This is used solely to answer the question "does this install have Pro access?" It is not linked to your name, email, or workout data, because we don't have those.
Apple may share aggregated, anonymized App Store analytics with us (downloads, crashes, retention). That data is aggregated by Apple and doesn't identify individual users.
3. Data from the Website
getaxen.com is separate from the app and does collect a small amount of data.
Analytics
We use PostHog for basic web analytics: page views, referrer, approximate location derived from IP, device/browser type, and interactions like button clicks and progress through the early-access flow. We use this to understand which pages work and where people drop off. We do not run advertising trackers, remarketing pixels, or data brokers on the site.
Early access form
If you reserve a founding price, we collect:
- Your email address
- The plan you selected
- The timestamp of your submission
No payment information is collected — no charge happens at that point. We use this only to notify you when Axen launches and to honor the price you reserved. We don't sell it, rent it, or share it with advertisers. Every email we send includes a way to unsubscribe.
Legal basis, if you're in a jurisdiction that requires one: your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
4. Third Parties, and What Each One Sees
| Party | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Apple (App Store) | Payment details, purchase records, App Store account info | Billing and app distribution |
| Apple (iCloud / CloudKit) | Your synced workout data, in your account | Syncing across your devices |
| RevenueCat | Anonymized purchase/entitlement events | Determining subscription access |
| PostHog | Website usage events | Web analytics |
We don't sell personal data, and we don't share it with anyone beyond what's listed above.
5. Children's Privacy
Axen is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. Our App Store age rating is App Store age rating — confirm. If you believe a child has submitted their email through our website, contact hello@getaxen.com and we'll delete it.
6. Data Retention
App data: retained as long as it exists on your device or in your iCloud. Deleting the app removes local data; deleting Axen's data from your iCloud storage removes the synced copy. Since we hold no copy, there's nothing for us to delete or retain on our side.
Website data: early-access emails are kept until you unsubscribe, ask us to delete them, or until the early-access program concludes and we no longer need them. PostHog analytics data is retained under PostHog's standard retention windows.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live (GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to processing.
In practice, for Axen:
- Your workout data: you already have full control. It's on your device. Delete the app to remove it locally, and manage or delete the iCloud copy through iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage. We cannot access it, so we can't produce or delete it for you.
- Website data (your early-access email): email hello@getaxen.com and we'll delete it, correct it, or send you a copy of what we hold. We'll respond within 30 days.
- Analytics: you can opt out of PostHog tracking using your browser's Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control signal, or by blocking analytics scripts.
We won't discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
8. Security
The app's data is protected by iOS's own sandboxing and device encryption; iCloud data is protected by Apple's infrastructure and your Apple ID security settings. Website traffic is served over HTTPS. Because we don't operate a database of user workout data, there is no central store of it to breach — which is the strongest security guarantee we can offer, and the reason the app is built this way.
No system is perfectly secure. If we ever become aware of a breach affecting website-side data, we'll notify affected people promptly.
9. International Users
Axen is available internationally. Website data (PostHog analytics and early-access emails) may be processed on servers outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses for those transfers. Your app and iCloud data is handled by Apple according to Apple's own regional infrastructure and policies.
10. Changes to This Policy
If we change how data is handled, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date. Material changes — particularly any change that would introduce new collection — will be announced clearly, in the app or by email, before they take effect.
11. Contact
